Rachel England, AMFT
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist
I became a therapist due to my own journey in mental health and body-mind healing. Being a client allowed me to make meaning and even find strength in my suffering.
As part of my self-discovery, I realized that supporting others to move through their struggles is my passion and purpose.
My guiding philosophy is that all our feelings and behaviors make sense if we open up to understand the underlying messages they hold.
By being in relationship with all parts of ourselves we can foster transformation through compassion and understanding.
My background experience
Attended postgraduate trainings in modalities such as Somatic Experiencing, ACT (Acceptance & Commitment Therapy), DBT (Dialectical Behavioral Therapy), and EMDR + Internal Family Systems Parts Protocol.
Completed an EMDRIA-approved basic training in EMDR (eye movement desensitization & reprocessing) and currently working towards certification.
Completed Level 2 of Lifespan Integration.
Graduated from California Institute of Integral Studies with an MA in Counseling Psychology and an emphasis in Somatic Psychology.
Participated in TLC’s professional training in the treatment of body-focused repetitive behaviors.
Experience working with elementary school students in the public school system and with young and older adults in a non-profit setting.
Areas of focus
As an integrative somatic therapist, I value the innate wisdom held in the body. In sessions, I support you in widening your capacity to mindfully be with all parts of yourself in the present moment.
Many of my clients experience distress about their worthiness and their ability to change engrained patterns or heal from past wounds.
My clients struggle with the symptoms of anxiety, depression, trauma (single event or complex), codependency, perfectionism, shame, unexpressed grief, and connecting to their intuition.
I also specialize in helping those struggling with body-focused repetitive behaviors such as hair-pulling or skin-picking.
Through somatic, experiential, and attachment-based approaches, I support clients to widen their capacity to mindfully be with all parts of themselves in the present moment. I am also trained in Lifespan Integration and EMDR, two modalities that heal the impact of trauma at the source.
