Let’s break down what trauma is and how we can work together to help you get back on track with living a life you love.
We typically think of trauma being in two catergories, Big ‘T’ trauma and little ‘t’ trauma.
Big ‘T’ trauma is typically defined as when one or a series of incidents occur that cause bodily or emotional harm such as:
Physical abuse, sexual assault, neglect of basic needs, emotional abuse, living through a disaster or a car accident.
Little ‘t’ trauma are events that all people who walk this planet experience, no one lives a life unscathed by these occurances, for example:
Heart break due to the end of a relationship (romantic or otherwise), bullying or death of pet
Experiencing a traumatic event(s) can cause you to lose sleep, avoid envirnoments or people that might remind them of the traumatic event and have a significant impact on relationships, work and school. You struggle to feel like yourself in your own body and mind. Because trauma effects everyone differently, there are many ways to find relief from the pain you feel. Some of the things we’ll work on initially will be to focus on your breahthing and slow down your mind.
I know that people are incredibly resilient (hence the name!) and however your feeling now, can change.
Doing this kind of work can be scary and feel overwhemling, however you are not alone.
